Ancient Odysseys works with partners to craft itineraries to accompany many of the dig expeditions we offer. Each of our digs are subject to the following Terms + Conditions
Risks
Due to the nature of archaeological and paleontological work, many of the trips featured on Ancient Odysseys are off the beaten path and in countries with transportation, communication and healthcare standards that are different from what you expect at home. Our trips may be physically demanding and there is a risk of serious personal injury, including permanent disability and death from accident, illness or the actions of negligence of other persons. Medical facilities and services may not be readily accessible and may not be sophisticated.

1. Seller of Travel Disclosure (Washington State Law – RCW 19.138)
Ancient Odysseys, operating as a Seller of Travel, is registered with the State of Washington. If you are a resident of the State of Washington, you may contact the Washington State Department of Licensing at any time to verify registration.

2. Role of Travel Agent / Booking Services
Ancient Odysseys works with independent suppliers and third party service providers (hotels, local guides, transportation companies, tour operators) and cannot be held responsible for their actions or their failure to act. Ancient Odysseys does not own or operate any of the travel services you may purchase. All bookings are made subject to the terms and conditions, refund policies, and liability rules of each individual supplier. Ancient Odysseys has no right or ability to control their operations and therefore makes travel arrangements for the trips on the condition that Ancient Odysseys will not be liable for any act or omission of any independent supplier or any unrelated third party. The services provided by independent suppliers are subject to the laws of the place where the services are provided, and any conditions imposed by those suppliers. The liability of the independent suppliers may be limited by their tariffs, conditions of carriage, tickets and vouchers, and international conventions and agreements.​
3. International Travel Risk and Responsibility
Travel to international destinations may involve increased risks, including political instability, health issues, terrorism, entry restrictions, and varying safety standards. By booking international travel through Ancient Odysseys, you acknowledge these risks and accept sole responsibility for researching and preparing for travel abroad.

We recommend that all travelers review current government travel advisories and other relevant agencies.​
4. Travel Documentation and Entry Requirements
It is the traveler’s responsibility to obtain and carry all required travel documents, including valid passports, visas, vaccination records, and other entry requirements specific to the destination country. Ancient Odysseys is not responsible for denied boarding or entry due to incomplete or invalid documentation.​
5. Foreign Currency, Pricing, and Exchange Rates
Prices for international travel may be quoted in foreign currency and are subject to fluctuations due to exchange rate changes or foreign surcharges. Final charges may differ from initial estimates. Your financial institution may apply foreign transaction fees for credit card payments; we are not liable for such charges.

6. Refunds, Supplier Defaults, and Force Majeure
Refund policies vary by supplier and are subject to their terms. In cases of supplier bankruptcy, Ancient Odysseys will assist with refund or rebooking requests but cannot guarantee reimbursement.
In addition and without limitation, Ancient Odysseys is not responsible for any injury, loss, or death, or damage to property in connection with the provision of any goods or services whether resulting from, without limitation, to acts of God or force majeure, weather, quarantines, illness, disease, acts of war, civil unrest, insurrection/revolt, animals, labor unrest including strikes, criminal or terrorist activities of any kind, overbooking or downgrading of services, food poisoning, mechanical or other failure of means of transportation or travel delays, travel advisories or warnings.
We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance that includes trip cancellation, medical evacuation, supplier default coverage and insurance appropriate to the traveler's needs in respect of such loss, injury, death or damage.​​

7. Limitation of Liability, Release and Indemnity
To be eligible to take an Ancient Odysseys trip, travelers must accept the risks of travel, including those set out in these Terms & Conditions, and assume full responsibility for any loss, injury, death or damage to them, their family or their dependents or property arising in connection with their participation, or the participation of their family, in the trip.

Travelers agree not to sue Ancient Odysseys, its employees, directors, successors, agents and assigns in respect of, and forever release them from, all liability for economic loss and physical or mental injury, direct or indirect, arising in connection with the trip and the actions of any third party service providers—including, without limitation, permanent disability and death; any emotional distress; any loss of services, financial support, aid, consortium or companionship; and any damage to or loss of property—in each case even if caused in whole or in part by the conduct, including the negligence, of Ancient Odysseys, except where such loss, injury or damage is caused by reckless or fraudulent conduct on the part of Ancient Odysseys or their employees, guides, shareholders, officers or directors, in which case the Traveler retains the right to sue only Ancient Odysseys in respect to that conduct. Travelers further agree that they will indemnify and hold Ancient Odysseys harmless in respect of any claims arising in connection with the trip made by: i) third parties, which arise from the misconduct of the Travelers; ii) the Traveler’s family members, dependents or heirs; iii) third parties, which the Traveler, their estate, their family members, dependents or heirs have sued, if damages are recovered from such third parties, to the extent the third party obtains any indemnification from Ancient Odysseys; except where the loss, injury, death or damage is caused by the reckless or fraudulent conduct on the part of Ancient Odysseys, or their employees, shareholders, officers or directors. Ancient Odysseys reserves the right to decline accepting any Traveler whose health or actions in Ancient Odysseys’s sole judgement impede the operation of a trip or the welfare or enjoyment of fellow Travelers.

8. Governing Law and Jurisdiction (Washington State)
This agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Washington, and any legal action or dispute shall be resolved exclusively in a court of competent jurisdiction in Washington, USA.

9. Acknowledgment
By booking travel with Ancient Odysseys, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to this disclosure and the associated terms and conditions.
